Silvey Fleet and BWOC are delighted to have been appointed as sustainability partners of the British Truck Racing Championship (BTRC) 2024. The BTRC is one of the biggest motorsport categories in the UK, with machines weighing in at more than five tonnes and producing in excess of 1000 bhp. Silvey Fleet and BWOC will be sole suppliers of the Renewable Diesel (HVO) used to fuel these heavyweight behemoths at race events throughout the season in both the UK and France.
Fuelling the future through sustainable sources
Improving sustainability is key to securing the future of motor racing and using new, more sustainable energy sources to fuel vehicles will play a significant role in helping organisers achieve this crucial goal.
Silvey Fleet and BWOC will together be helping the BTRC significantly reduce CO2 emissions over the course of the 2024 season through the use of Renewable Diesel (HVO). Made from 100% renewable and sustainable feedstocks, it can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90% net. It is also a safe and easy alternative that can be used in place of conventional diesel without having to make any engine modifications and many vehicle manufacturers have approved it for usage in their engines1.
Transitioning to greener alternative fuels
The road transport industry is undergoing a major shift as it transitions to new, more sustainable energy sources. Silvey Fleet and BWOC are playing their part in this evolution by offering innovative new products and services, such as Renewable Diesel (HVO), EV charging and carbon offsetting, to help customers reduce CO2 emissions.
Silvey Fleet, a leading fuel card and fleet management solutions provider, offers Renewable Diesel (HVO) on several of its fuel card networks, providing customers with easy access to this greener fuel alternative. As one of the UK’s largest fuel suppliers, BWOC can provide nationwide bulk supply of Renewable Diesel (HVO). With access to multiple supply points nationwide, it offers security of supply with sustainability ensured through the ISCC-EU certification scheme.
“Partnering with the BTRC is an exciting opportunity for Silvey Fleet, allowing us to demonstrate our commitment to offering customers sustainable solutions, and play our part in shaping the energy transition,” says Miriam James, Managing Director of Silvey Fleet. “It is a prime example of how companies can collaborate and take action to decarbonise and contribute towards a more sustainable future.”
“We want to help customers decarbonise by offering innovative fuel solutions that can help reduce their CO2 emissions,” explains Amy Jones, Managing Director of BWOC. “Supplying Renewable Diesel (HVO) to the BTRC will help ensure the organisation meets its commitment to reducing carbon emissions and enhance the positive impact racing can have on the world.”
Stuart Oliver, Promotor/Director of BTRC said; “We are delighted to have Silvey Fleet and BWOC as sustainability partners for our 2024 season. The BTRC, is aligned with Truck Sport UK and the British Automobile Racing Club in its commitment to reducing carbon emissions from racing events. Using Renewable Diesel (HVO) at our events will significantly reduce carbon emissions, helping us work towards achieving this goal.”
1, HVO is chemically similar to conventional fossil diesel BS EN 590 Diesel, meets BS EN 15940 and is approved by a wide range of vehicle manufacturers. Please check this for your vehicle, and if you are uncertain, please consult your vehicle manufacturer.
