Sporting a very distinctive new livery on his Generation 3 Clio Cup Race car Luke Pinder moved into a clear championship 3rd place in the Michelin Clio Cup Series after a bruising encounter at Croft over the weekend of 23rd/24th July. Following a disappointing qualifying session that saw the Jade Developments / Transport Monthly supported driver start from 7th position on the grid for both races. Pinder made a couple of superb starts and in race 1 climbed into 3rd position on the road ( later disappointingly changed to 4th after a track limits penalty). In the second race Pinder battled with guest BTCC driver Josh Cook for 3rd position before being “delayed” by a Championship regular at Tower with 3 laps remaining. Unlike his rival Pinder managed to restart but finished a disappointing 9th. Ironically however this generated enough championship points to allow Pinder to move into the top 3 in the championship.
Pinder said “On the whole it was a challenging weekend, but nevertheless very enjoyable. Croft always produces good close racing and this weekend was no different. As they say what comes around goes around.”
