Cheadle, Greater Manchester-based Alien Concrete & Transport has taken delivery of the UK’s first Renault Trucks 32-tonne Range C430 Tridem 8×4 complete with a 9m³ Putzmeister concrete mixer body and a Day & Night cab. It joins their mixed fleet of ten 6 and 8-wheelers, including a standard 32-tonne Range C430 8×4.

Delivering to major construction sites across the country, the Range C Tridem’s configuration, with a lifting and steering rear axle, improves handling in tight access locations. It is ideal for working on and off-road, with a tighter turning circle than conventional 8-wheelers, saving valuable time when manoeuvring.

Alien Concrete & Transport’s Managing Director, Keith Wiles, says: “We need good versatility on site, and in tight spaces our standard 8-wheelers can struggle, but the Range C Tridem allows us to run a larger capacity drum with all the manoeuvrability of a 6×4 to places not normally accessible with an 8-wheeler.”

Reliability was key to Alien Concrete & Transport’s vehicle purchase decision, and the robust and dependable performance of the company’s first Range C sealed the deal.

Keith continues: “If a truck is off the road for any reason, it’s a cost to me.  Our first Range C hasn’t let us down since we purchased it a year ago and that was a major factor in selecting the new Range C Tridem. The truck will be looked after on a 5-year Renault Trucks R&M package by our local dealer, Thompsons Commercials, with whom we have a very good relationship and who are currently servicing the Range C.”
