Chiltern Railways has been Highly Commended for its Community Rail Projects at the National Rail Awards (NRAs).

Chiltern’s stakeholder team and colleagues have helped deliver more than 25 community rail projects in the past 12 months.

Key projects have included rail confidence sessions, station garden expansions, active travel maps, literacy programmes and rail safety talks.

Joined by key community partners from Heart of England CRP and Oxfordshire Community Rail Partnership, the operator was recognised for its community projects in the Outstanding Contribution to Society category at the NRAs.

The operator was presented the award at Grosvenor House in London on Thursday 12 September.

Tony Baxter, Operations Director at Chiltern Railways, who attended the awards, said:

“I am delighted that Chiltern colleagues were recognised for their hard work and determination in delivering key community projects over the past 12 months.

“It was also a pleasure to be joined by some of our key community partners at the National Rail Awards I am proud of the ongoing work across our network which adds significant value to local communities.”
