Key to the move back to DAF is BJ Waters’ ‘fantastic’ relationship with the local DAF Dealer, Imperial Commercials in Mackworth. BJ Waters also acquires DAF vehicles from Imperial Commercials for its sister company, George Siddall Transport, based at the same South Darley site, which it acquired in the 1970s and which focuses on flat-bed and general haulage work, including 7.5-tonne distribution.

“We have operated other brands periodically, but we’re back with DAF now, said Managing Director, Martin Waters, “It has always been an extremely reliable, high-quality product, and the trucks are built to the highest quality standards. However, it’s also the relationship with Imperial Commercials which has been fantastic. It’s the strong support and the relationship with key individuals, which are as key to a successful operation as the trucks themselves.”

“We operate on the continent,” he added, “and we enjoy the same high level of DAF Dealer support over there as we do in the UK.”

The DAF XF 6×2 twin-steer tractors are new additions to BJ Waters’ 50-strong fleet, and coincide with the company’s plans to expand its business. Martin Waters said, “We’re seeing higher volumes of work and a move to a larger, more suitable location to cater for our growing fleet is certainly being considered.”
